Our Philosophy
Treasuring Christ Together
East Parkway Church’s Children’s and Family Ministry exists to glorify God by teaching the next generation to esteem Him and His Son Jesus Christ. By God’s grace and for His glory, we labor with all love and gentleness to guide children to an understanding of truth through careful and thorough Bible teaching with the intent to reach both the heart and mind. We long to bring each child to a genuine repentance, authentic faith, and a single minded devotion to Him Who alone can pardon sin, give everlasting peace, and satisfy the heart eternally.
“…that they may proclaim the praises of Him who called them out of darkness into His marvelous light…” (1 Peter 2:9).
Through Teaching
We have a passion to see children brought to salvation through repentance and faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. Contrary to the values of the world, we seek to lead the children to find their joy and satisfaction in God Himself, delighting in His character through the truth of His Word. Therefore, we seek to present Biblical truths in a manner that consistently directs the child’s mind and heart to contemplate the glories of God, the sinfulness of man, and the wonders of God’s grace in Christ. Through age-appropriate Bible lessons and learning activities, we seek to instill the glorious truths of God in their minds that their hearts might be filled with appropriate awe, love, fear, and gratitude.”
Through Partnering
Repeatedly Scripture admonishes parents to instruct their children diligently. It is a high, challenging calling that is often intimidating. Though the responsibility of nurturing a child’s faith falls primarily on the parents, we believe it is the church’s role and privilege to come alongside the parents as they endeavor to faithfully fulfill this command. Children’s ministry then is truly a ministry of the family of Christ, partnering with parents, as they labor deliberately and passionately to bring children to the knowledge of God and the hope of eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ, that our church body may increasingly treasure Christ together. Our desire at East Parkway Bible Church is to assist, support, and supplement the teaching and shepherding of the child’s heart that takes place at home through:
- Prayer
- Maintaining solid Bible teaching in all classes
- Providing weekly take-home Bible lessons
- Worldwide missions education
- Community service opportunities
- Resource library for children
